I’m Brittany: frequently described as bubbly, rarely described as “chill,” and the gal behind this site. I grew up in Calgary and still call it home, or rather, I call it home again.

Over the past decade I’ve lived and worked in West Africa, finished up an undergrad degree in Calgary, and  spent a year working and studying in Boston. After all that I wound up with a masters degree, a passion for humanitarian work, and a bit of higher-ed and expat fatigue. The latter made me long to put down roots in a place where I could build community.

At just the right time a nonprofit close to my heart opened a position in my field just as I finished up in Boston. So I packed up my lime-green car and made the trip back home, to set up a home.

Nearly three years on, I finally feel at home for the first time in my adult life. I’m generally found socializing, daydreaming, drinking coffee, and pretending I know what I’m doing in the kitchen (and I do, mostly). I’m the most extroverted-introvert or introverted-extrovert you’ll ever meet; I’m still not entirely sure which. I do know I am a dork, lover of conversation, over-user of dad jokes, always up for a laugh and an adventurer at heart.

So that’s me, but so is this blog.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you, as you get to know me.
